Marilyan L. Stone

February 24, 1947 - February 5, 2022

A celebration of life to honor Marilyan L. Stone will be scheduled and announced for this Spring as that is her favorite time of year. Marilyan L. Stone, age 74, passed away peacefully February 5, 2022. She was born February 24, 1947, in Empire, Alabama, to James Marian Woods and Burlie Elizabeth Elenburg. She was married to Isaac "Bud" J. Stone Jr. who preceded her in death in 2005. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Arvol Terry Woods. She is survived by her sister, Susie (Rick) Spurgin, and her sister-in-law, Vicki Woods. Marilyan and Isaac shared six children combined, James M. Brown, Lisa A. Sikes, Christopher D. Keasler, Cathy Amanda Keasler, Sandra Long, and Judy Hartley; eleven combined grandchildren, Brandy Tidwell, Saconda Waid, Tabitha Long Curtis, Amber Hood, Rachel Brown, Jackson Sikes, Grant Sikes, Cidney Hays, Savannah Keasler, Lucus Keasler, and Jase Calvert; and nine great-grandchildren. Marilyan is formerly of Walker County and lived in the Piney Woods community for many years. She has lived the past eight years in Cullman County with family. Marilyan graduated from Verbena High School in Chilton County. She was a proud member of the Beta club and often reminisced of her days in home economics, and how much she loved school. Marilyan has worked hard all of her life, and she enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, cooking, scary movies, trivia, going out to eat, church, and getting together with family and friends to play cards. Marilyan had a passion for gardening and creating beautiful flower gardens. Marilyan fought a long, brave, and heartbreaking battle with Alzheimers/Dementia. She rarely complained and when asked how she was feeling, she would usually make light of her situation and reply "with my fingers". How incredibly blessed we were! My mother would want to be remembered for her kindness and how much she loved her family and friends. What an absolute great cook and baker she was! How she could take a plain yard and turn it into a beautiful work of art was a true labor of love. If you knew Marilyan, then you knew her true loves were chocolate and The Beach Boys! I have always been in awe of my mother's ability to remember everyone's birthday, anniversary, special family events, dates, etc. She was my go-to for so many questions, advice, etc. I can't imagine life without her. Marilyan loved to plan and host get-togethers for family and friends, so I am certain she is having a wonderful family reunion in heaven. I asked her to please save me a seat. Deuteronomy 31:6 Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the Lord your God is the one who goes with you. He will not fail you or forsake you.
