Paul Presto

Paul, 83, went home to be with the Lord on November 27, 2012 at Cullman Long Term Care and Rehab Center. He was born on March 27, 1929 in Birmingham, Alabama to Joseph David and Mary Margaret (Bensco) Presto. Visitation will be Thrsday, November 29, 2012 from 6-9 at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Friday, November 30, 2012 at 11am, at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church; Rev. Walter Cash, Rev. Lee Witherington, and Rev. Jonathan Todd will officiate. Burial will be at Cullman City Cemetery. Mr. Presto will lie in state from 10-11am at the church. He was an active member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, the Seekers Sunday School class, North Alabama Emmaus Eommunity, a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, and in his retirement years, a cattle farmer. Most of Paul's professional career was spent as a commercial building superintendent. Paul oversaw projects scattered throughout the Southeastern United States; these ranged from churches and schools, to buildings involvingt national security. These buildings stand as a testament to the hard work and dedication to the field he loved. He displayed the same characteristics in the foundation of his family; they also carried over into his retirement life, as he oversaw numerous building projects at St. Andrew's. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather- and was a friend to all. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; Son, David ; and his brothers Robert and Larry. He is survived by his Wife of 54 years, Jo Noneaker Presto; daughters, Patti (michael) Wray of Logan and Mary Grace (Joe Don) Castleberry of Bowie, MD; sons, Philip (Karen), Patrick (Teresa), and Dale (Rita), all of Cullman; sisters, Ethel Lowry of Birmingham, Alabama and Anna Gallops of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Christy Reach, Michael (Pam) Wray, Greg (Shayla) Wray, Jammie Johnson, Jennifer (Dustin) Barnett, Nathan Necklaus, Brandon Necklaus, Joshua Presto, Christopher Presto, Jonathon Presto, Peyton Presto, and Dawson Presto; and fifteen great-grandchildren. ***In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be mad in Mr. Presto's honour to the Alabama Kidney Foundation, P.O. Box 12505, Birmingham, Alabama 35202; or to the Elevator Fund at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church of Cullman.
